Being too beautiful has its downsides too - ask Dia Mirza!
Dia Mirza has a face that - as they say - men would go to war for. I mean, just look at her, and you will feel like God took some more time in creating her. With her expressive eyes, infectious smile, and unmatched charisma in her persona - she has been a heartthrob for decades now. However, contrary to popular belief, this "ethereal beauty" hasn't always been of advantage to her.
Born on December 9, 1981, Dia Mirza first came to the limelight in 2000 after winning the title of Miss Asia Pacific International. That same year, she was also crowned Femina Miss India Asia Pacific. However, it was her Bollywood debut, 'Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein' (2001), that catapulted her to unprecedented stardom nationwide. She emerged as an overnight sensation and went on to reign supreme in the hearts of millions. Having said that, not many know that she has faced lots of rejections too. And that's - quite surprisingly - because of her being too pretty.

Today, on Mirza's 43rd birthday, let's learn about that in this article.
Well, in almost every discussion of Dia Mirza, people tend to focus more on how she looks on the screen than how she acts. But it's important to acknowledge that she is a good actress, who has always been keen on experimenting with her craft.
Therefore, even after becoming a quintessential "Bollywood heroine", she wanted to work in various genres and play different kinds of roles. But she has been frequently rejected by filmmakers for her good looks.

As the actress shared in an interview, "There are lots of wonderful directors who I’d give my heart for and I would love to work with. They haven’t cast me because they think I look too good. But it’s okay, it’s fine. But I have to say this there’s been an update in life since. Those same directors now want to work with me.”
"I was told ‘You should just do commercials and Bollywood’ and Bollywood would be said to me like it’s a bad thing. It’s really the tone that people use to convey things sometimes that can either become a compliment or an insult. It’s not always what you are saying, it’s about how you say it. Also, many times I was told, ‘uff yaar! You are too pretty’ and I was like is it a bad thing?”
Notably, the 'Sanju' actress has time and again spoken against the beauty standards of Indian society. In her words, "Beauty judgments are many, and while we think that light-skinned women have no judgments to deal with. It’s all social conditioning and it goes straight back to the fact that we keep identifying people and putting them into a box when everyone is capable of doing much more than we ever allow them to be."
