“Students are advised to apply directly to the companies as per the details provided in the portal. It may please be noted that the Consulate has no role in selection for internship nor is it responsible for the same,” it further said.
Through this, Indian students will get internship opportunities at different Indian and American companies in IT, finance, investment banking, pharma, and other fields.
The overall application procedure is simple. After entering the official website of Indian mission, you need to click on ‘Students Internship’ option. There, you will get fields of expertise like pharma, finance, IT, and so on. You need to choose company from any of these above-mentioned domains and fill the application form.
Adarsh Khandelwal, co-founder of an education consulting company organisation told: “There were about 400 undergrad students in the final year in the East Coast and West Coast, including in Ivy League schools, whom I counselled over the years, who have not got any internship offers this summer.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Ivy League’ consists of 8 renowned private universities in the US including Harvard University, Yale University, the University of Pennsylvania, and so on. These universities are known for its academic excellence for centuries.
Khandelwal also highlighted, “Indians, even in top US colleges such as NYU Stern, UC Berkeley, Brown University, University of Pennsylvania and University of Texas at Austin, are struggling. A lot of these kids have reached out to us seeking help to get placed in India.”
Usually, students from science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) domains get internship opportunities throughout the world. In this ongoing economic slowdown, they are also not getting opportunities. “There are hardly any jobs for vanilla coding skills, unless there is an element of AI (artificial intelligence) or emerging technology in it” he added.
Students and consulting agencies are hopeful that newly launched portal will help aspirants for a successful career.
