What Are The Cons Of One Man Having Total Control?

Citizens become puppets in the hands of dictatorial rulers!

We live in a democratic country where there is a systematic method of election. We elect our representatives that lead us for a specific amount of time & then we have a chance to evaluate them whether they are worthy of another shot. Meanwhile dictatorship is the polar opposite of this system. In a dictatorship a few people or sometimes a sole leader gets all the control and can lead a nation for an indefinite period without any election.

Authoritative Government: Violation Of Fundamental Rights Of The Citizens

While some may argue that this system can make swift transition of policy or lessen corruption, over the years, we have seen that one man empire has more negative effects than positive ones. Let's talk about some of the cons of one man having total control over a nation.

Non-Existent Opposition:

Good opposition is always needed for a reliable political system. They raise their voice against the loopholes or misdeeds of the ruling party. They also work channeling the urge of the oppressed part of the people. But when one man controls everything and every system, the opposition is automatically eliminated by the leader. That creates a void in the political space and the voices of the oppressed generally go unheard.

Rampant Change In Law And Order Of The System:

When a single leader controls all aspects of administration, he can rewrite or remove laws at his whim. That makes him almighty at the system and the safety & security of the common people can come in grave danger.

Rule Of Terror And Seizure Of Human Rights:

One of the biggest concerns of the dictatorship is that gradually it turns into a regime run by fear & violence. Mass killings happen in the name of reduction of crime & any opposition voice is silenced by the sole leader. People basically obey the leader due to mere fear and the lifestyle becomes vulnerable. The basic fundamental rights of the people are taken away and sometimes they have to do fundamental duties irrespective of their personal choice.

Emergence Of Hero Worship:

As dictators rise through populism, the one man at the helm of power creates a cult status for him. Larger than life public image, creation of statues and many more narcissist events are done to build a plastic image to the world. In this case the individual importance reigns over the collective importance. So the common people suffer due to lack of attention. Anyone who questions the leader gets persecuted.

Death Of The Sole Leader Can Create Chaos In The System:

When the sole controller of the masses dies without selecting his worthy predecessor, the whole system collapses. The greed of power and internal brawls between the factions of the structural cabinet creates reactionary anarchy that brings the regime's downfall. Sometimes this situation causes civil war and common face many struggles and possible abuse.
