Trivia T20 WC: The Only Captain to Have Captained Over 30 Matches

This captain in question has a winning percentage of 60.60

Captaining a national team of any sport is incredibly hard, given the team is expected to win every trophy that comes its way. When it comes to cricket, there are three major trophies that Test-playing nations fight for – the T20 World Cup, the 50-over World Cup and the World Test Championship.

Given the T20 World Cup’s curtains fall in the next few hours, here is one last trivia about one of the most iconic captains in the tournament’s history. This captain in question is the only one to have captained over 30 matches. In fact, no other captain has ever captained a side in more than 20 games.

A true winner

The man needs no introduction because he is none other than the legendary Mahendra Singh Dhoni, India’s former two-time World Cup winning skipper. The former captain led the side from 2007 till 2016, handling the team’s charge in 33 T20 World Cup games.

Out of 33 games, Dhoni’s Indian side emerged victorious on 20 occasions, and they lost 11 matches – one game ended in a tie, whereas another concluded with no result. As a captain, Dhoni recorded a winning percentage of 60.60. Not to forget, he led the team to the T20 World Cup trophy in the inaugural season of 2007 by defeating Pakistan.
