With personal milestones and team pride on the line, the India-England series promises to be a spectacle for cricket lovers
India and England are all set to rekindle their cricket rivalry in a highly anticipated series. The eight-match white-ball extravaganza will kick off with five T20 Internationals (T20Is) starting January 22 in Kolkata, followed by three ODIs. As both teams prepare for battle, several records are on the verge of being rewritten.
England captain Jos Buttler is on the cusp of breaking Virat Kohli’s record for most runs in India-England T20Is. Buttler, with 498 runs to his name, needs just 151 more to surpass Kohli’s impressive tally of 648 runs. This series holds special significance for Buttler, who will look to avenge England’s loss to India in the 2022 T20 World Cup semi-final. Meanwhile, India’s Rohit Sharma, who has 467 runs against England, will remain a key figure despite his retirement from T20Is.

Jos Buttler is closing in on several milestones in T20 cricket. With 1,082 fours to his name, he is just 14 boundaries away from overtaking Aaron Finch’s mark of 1,095 fours. Achieving this feat would make him only the eighth batter in history to hit 1,100 fours in the format. Additionally, Buttler is poised to become the first English batter to score 500 runs against India in T20Is. This achievement would place him in an elite club, alongside Nicholas Pooran, Glenn Maxwell, David Miller, and Finch.
