'The Goat Life' Crosses ₹150 Crore Within 25 Days; Here's A Look At Prithviraj Sukumaran's Upcoming Films

Hard work does pay off, and Prithviraj Sukumaran has proved that yet again with his latest release, 'Aadujeevitham - The Goat Life'. After 16 years in the making, the film finally hit theatres last month, and man, what a journey it has had! In just 25 days, it has surpassed the Rs 150 crore mark at the global box office, becoming the third highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time. And despite new releases in the following weeks, it's showing absolutely no sign of slowing down.

Notably, 'Aadujeevitham - The Goat Life' is a Malayalam-language survival drama film based on Benyamin's best-selling novel. Directed by Blessy, the film stars Prithviraj as an immigrant laborer who is forced into slavery in the deserts of Saudi Arabia.

Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil

Prithviraj will next be seen in 'Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil', a Malayalam-language comedy film directed by Vipin Das (known for films like 'Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey' and 'Antakshari'). The upcoming film is scripted by Deepu Pradeep, who previously penned films like 'Kunjiramayanam' (2015), 'The Priest' (2020), and 'Padmini' (2023). Besides Prithviraj, it also stars Nikhila Vimal, Anaswara Rajan, Basil Joseph, and Yogi Babu (in his debut in Malayalam films) among others.

The film will tell the story of Vinu (Prithviraj) who is working towards his sister’s wedding to an "innocent and naive" man, Anand.

Vilayath Buddha

'Vilayath Buddha' is special because it was the late director Sachy’s dream project. Based on GR Indugopan's short novel, the upcoming film is now being directed by Jayan Nambiar. Its script is penned by GR Indugopan and Rajesh Pinnadan.

It will feature Prithviraj as one of the lead characters, Double Mohanan, while actor Kottayam Ramesh will be playing another lead named Bhaskaran Maash. Besides, it also has Anu Mohan, Shammi Thilakan, Tejeenthan Arunasalam, and Priyamvada Krishnan in significant roles.

According to reports, 'Vilayath Buddha' will revolve around a conflict between its lead characters over the ownership of a sandalwood tree.

L2: Empuraan

'L2: Empuraan' will not only feature Prithviraj Sukumaran as an actor but will also see his comeback as the director. The upcoming film is the second installment in a planned trilogy, following the 2019 film 'Lucifer'. It will see Mohanlal as the lead, alongside Prithviraj, Manju Warrier, and Tovino Thomas in the recurring cast. It's written by Murali Gopy.

Salaar - Part 2

'Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire', helmed by Prashanth Neel, was released in 2023, and became a huge hit at the box office, earning ₹715 crore on a ₹270 crore budget. Set in the fictional dystopian city of Khansaar, the film revolves around the friendship between Deva (Prabhas), a tribesman, and Varadha (Prithviraj), the prince of Khansaar. Besides the lead cast, it also stars Shruti Haasan, Jagapathi Babu, Bobby Simha, Tinnu Anand, Easwari Rao, Sriya Reddy, and Ramachandra Raju.

'Salaar 2', the highly anticipated sequel to the 2023 film, is currently in production and is scheduled for a 2025 release.
