Budget 2024-25 to be Presented Today
The Budget for 2024-25, marking the first significant economic plan of the newly-formed government, will be presented by Sitharaman today. This budget is anticipated to outline a strategy to transform India into a developed nation by 2047. The previous two budgets witnessed minimal changes in taxation policies, except for establishing the new tax regime as the default and incorporating the Standard Deduction feature. Current pre-budget discussions focus on providing tax relief to boost consumer spending and addressing inflation and economic growth.
The government plans to introduce at least six Bills during the parliamentary session, which will run until August 12. The session is expected to be vehement, with a revivified Opposition poised to maintain its assertive stance from the June session. In the all-party meeting on Sunday, opposition leaders indicated their intention to challenge the NDA-led BJP government on various issues, including NEET exam leaks, railway safety, unemployment, and rising prices.
