Happy Birthday, Triptii Dimri: Know About The 'Animal' Actress's "Dream Roles"

In just seven years (since ‘Laila Majnu’), Triptii Dimri has already showcased her versatility by portraying a diverse range of characters, each more appealing than the previous one.

Triptii Dimri has done it both - on one hand, she has portrayed complex characters in out-of-the-box films 'Laila Majnu', 'Bulbbul', and 'Qala', and on the other, she has blockbusters 'Animal' and 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3' that cater to the mainstream audience. This balance - which is an inspiration for every budding actor - showcases not only her versatility but also her ability to step out of her comfort zone and push herself. She is a "national crush" now, but as Parambrata Chatterjee recently said in an interview, such labels are "temporary, but class is permanent - she has a long way to go."

Born on February 23, 1995, Triptii has portrayed diverse characters over the years - from the free-spirited Laila to the strong-willed Bulbbul to the ambitious but troubled Qala to the fierce Zoya and more. It's impressive; but have you ever wondered what her dream roles might look like? Well, in a candid conversation last year, she herself revealed that.

Today, as the actress turns one year older (read wiser), let's learn about her dream roles in this article.

Triptii Dimri's Dream Roles

In several of her interviews, Triptii has mentioned that she has a keen interest in mythological characters, and would love to play Sita or Draupadi on the screen. Besides, she dreams of portraying icons (such as Meena Kumari) in their biopics as well.

At the India Today Mumbai Conclave in September last year, she spoke at a session titled, "Struggles to Stardom: The Untold Story of My Bollywood Breakthrough". Speaking about her dream roles, she said, "I would love to portray a mythological character. The Palace of Illusions is one of my favorite books. It is written from the point of view of Draupadi in Mahabharata. If something like that comes my way, then I would love to do it. I'm also drawn to biopics of iconic actresses - I'm a huge fan of Jaya Bachchan, Madhubala, and Meena Kumari."

Notably, the actress has a list of directors to work with as well. In 2020, she shared in an interview with Filmfare that she would love to collaborate with Anurag Basu, Sriram Raghavan, Imtiaz Ali, Shoojit Sircar, and Sanjay Leela Bhansali among others in the future.

How Triptii Chooses A Role

Triptii made her screen debut as an extra in 'Mom' (Sridevi's final film) in 2017, and had her first major role in Shreyas Talpade's directorial debut, the comedy 'Poster Boys', starring Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, and Talpade in lead roles. In 2018, she had her breakthrough with the romantic drama, 'Laila Majnu'.

She didn't get to 'choose 'Laila Majnu', rather it was the other way around. However, she realized her inclination towards complex characters, where she could showcase her artistry. And that's why she went on to play shaded characters in films such as 'Bulbbul' and 'Qala', where her performance earned her acclaim from critics and audiences alike.

When 'Animal' was offered to her - although it was a brief role - it seemed challenging to her. In her words, "For me, I don't like staying in my comfort zone. With 'Bulbbul' and 'Qala', I found that comfort, and while I love drama, being on those sets always energized me. However, when 'Animal' came along, I found it truly challenging. As an actor, it's important to take on something that pushes you."

Post 'Animal', Triptii shared in all her interviews that she "won’t take on projects out of desperation", adding that her priority was and would always be to find a connection with the audiences. Since then, she has starred in films like 'Bad Newz', 'Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video', and 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3'.
