Happy Birthday, Abhishek Bachchan: Did You Know The 'Guru' Actor Is Also A Singer?

Not many know that Abhishek Bachchan – the Bollywood actor - has occasionally ventured into the world of music as well.

Abhishek Bachchan has been in Bollywood for 25 years now - and man, what an incredible journey it has been! After consistently being criticized and compared to his legendary father, he has now gotten everyone to settle on the fact that he is a phenomenal actor in his own right. However, while his acting career has always been a topic of discussion - be it for praise or trolling - there's another side to him that often goes unnoticed. Well, it's his singing career we are talking about!

Now, it seems that just like his acting prowess, Jr. Bachchan has inherited his singing talent too from his father, Amitabh Bachchan. Although not formally trained, he has a good voice and a good sense of beats and rhythm. And that's why he has time and again lent his voice to Bollywood's tracks. Today, on his 49th birthday, let's have a look at his journey as a singer.

How it all began

Born into the Bachchan family, Abhishek Bachchan was exposed to various fields of art and creativity in his childhood. Thanks to his father's (who has sung iconic songs such as "Rang Bharse" and "Mere Angne Mei") influence, he developed a fascination with the world of music at a very young age. His mother, Jaya Bachchan, also instilled in him a taste for various genres of music - from traditional to contemporary.

Naturally, Jr. Bachchan grew up to become a singer. And over the years, he has showcased his singing talent on several occasions.

Now, Some Of His Playback Songs

Right Here Right Now (Bluffmaster!)

Rohan Sippy's 2005 crime comedy film 'Bluffmaster!' was a semi-hit - but now it's safe to say that the film deserved more love than it received. And among everything that made it special, one was its song "Right Here Right Now" which marked the playback debut of Abhishek Bachchan. He sang (the rap portion) alongside Sunidhi Chauhan.

Composed by Vishal–Shekhar, the song gave Bachchan little scope to showcase his singing talent. But he brought a sense of novelty - with all his swag and style - to it that appealed to the youth.

Thayn Thayn (Dum Maaro Dum)

Now this is a song where Abhishek Bachchan could play to his strengths. Here, he captured the film's mood in his performance (again a rap), delivering something that is still popular among fans.

Speaking about the song, Jr. Bachchan said in an interview with India Times, "The song was conceptualized keeping in mind the character that I play in the film - that of a tough cop. The song talks about the cop's approach, attitude, and outlook towards modern society. And since he is a police official, it makes a lot of sense for him to talk of corruption and abuse in the song."

Until the Sun Comes Up - By Raghav

"Until the Sun Comes Up" - a bilingual single in English and Hindi by artist Raghav Mathur - featured additional vocals by Abhishek Bachchan along with American rapper Nelly. The song aimed to raise awareness about solar energy.

Despite his minimal contribution, Bachchan received lots of love from all over the world for his work on the track. Back in 2015, during the release of the song, he took to Twitter saying, "Really excited for you guys to hear this track. Thank you Raghav for giving me this opportunity to collaborate with two of my favorites. #RaghavNellyABbaby."

Abhishek Bachchan has his limitations as a singer - but what truly matters is he always brings freshness to his songs, which appeals to people of all age groups.
