5 Things that your resume should reflect- tips to make a great CV

Are you looking to spruce up your resume, or even make it and are unsure what to include and how to get your strengths through to the person who receives it? Well, as you might well be aware, that subtext and implicit boasting is key! Though this is hard and requires subtlety, here are some very pertinent ways to enhance your CV, as well as how to reflect your positive traits, which could make you a top runner for the job that you are applying for!

Adaptability

Another very important feature which will probably be relevant irrespective of where you are applying is the ability to adapt to new situations and environments. This makes a lot of difference to the person who is responsible for hiring you. Words which would help you get this trait across, in your CV include “adapt”, “embrace”, “Prioritize”, and “quick learner”. These things make you seem like an active and enthusiastic worker, thus increasing your chances of getting selected!  It means that you can adjust, and interact with your coworkers, as this is essential. Therefore, do put down this point in some way or the other. One way you can reflect upon this is how you acquire new skills or write a timeline, of how you joined an organization went up the ladder, and started playing a role in the work that they did.

Teamwork

Another thing which people look for, which makes you employable is the ability to engage in teamwork and work in a team. Though individualism is also important, the aim should be a delicate balance between teamwork and individualism. Keywords and phrases to highlight this include boosting of morale, being supportive, encouraging, cooperation, collaboration and forming networks. Using these gives the idea that you are capable of working together, something which many companies and organizations look for!

Leadership

If you have ever facilitated and led or organized a project, or event, do make it a highlight. These are very significant aspects and convince people that you are capable of taking up responsibility, delegating and managing important tasks. This puts forth the understanding that you are reliable and trustworthy! Use keywords such as mentor, delegate, and manage. The point is to make a delicate balance, between showing yourself( and also genuinely being) a person who collaborates, yet one who can also lead the crowd. It is a very good and essential balance to have, to survive the world of employment! Appealing to bosses is very old school- this is the new way!

Ditch chronology

One thing you should do while developing your CV is to ditch chronology. However, in some cases, such as while putting your educational background, chronology is imperative, when talking about work experiences/ achievements, start the list with which one is the most relevant for the particular job that you are applying for!

Analytical thinking and research skills

Another very important skill that you should possess is your ability to research, and ability to find information and remain up to date with the latest developments and trends. If you are applying for a news agency or a research institute then this is practically your job! Show that you don’t read from the internet but also can analyze information, tap into unusual sources use a critical lens to navigate, and raise interesting questions. This skill is also relevant in the commercial world. Truth be told, nothing is possible without the internet nowadays. Your ability to collect and process data, understand the latest trends and market accordingly is imperative. All this takes the ability to research!
